Morgan Fitzsimmons

Tae Kwon Do


Introduction:. Morgan K. Fitzsimmons, 11, already has a history of awards and medals in Taekwondo. At a young age she began to show a great interest in training in the art of Taekwondo. This interest developed into real-life experience when Morgan achieved black belt at 6 years of age. She has continued her black belt training, alongside her dad, and is now a 2nd degree black belt. Being one of the youngest students to achieve this, at Master Chong’s World Class Tae Kwon Do, Morgan has led by example to many of her peers, junior belts, and family members.

Training Highlights and Awards:. Morgan has been competing nationally in full contact sparring and forms competitions since 2004. Her journey began with local tournaments and elite training under the watchful eyes of her trainers and coach, Master Moon and Master Chong. She began competing in local tournaments in Buffalo, Toronto and Erie, PA where she received not only numerous gold and silver medals, but also the prestige of the Best All-Around Female Athlete in 2005 and 2006 at the Erie, PA tournament. Morgan has seen defeat at the 2005 and 2006 national qualifiers, where she placed second, only to regain her confidence and goal for a gold medal. She obtained a silver medal at the 2005 Junior Olympics, in San Antonio, TX, and a gold medal in 2006, in Atlanta, GA. She will continue her quest and training with the support of her family and coaches over the next few years in order to get one step closer to her goal.

Future Dreams: . Morgan has begun to prepare for the future goals she has set for herself, the ultimate dream, 2012 or 2016 Olympic Games. There are many steps to take and preparation to be done before this can even be considered taking place. Training camps, try-outs for theU.S. Junior National Team, tournaments to conquer, hours of sweat, injuries to overcome and discipline from her coach to name a few.

Other Interests: Morgan is a steadfast soccer player and swimmer and is now beginning tennis lessons and golf. She feels that it is best to stay well-rounded and in top shape all year long. Her mom, dad, and sister also train with her in Taekwondo, with her 3 year old sister to soon follow. Nowadays you can find Morgan skiing, bike riding, kicking the soccer ball, playing tennis, running, swimming and body surfing, and of course at Taekwondo.
